Jack Russell: Dog Detective by Darrel and Sally Odgers

Jack Russell is not a normal dog. He is a detective and when odd things start happening in his precious home town Doggeroo, he is anxious for a new mystery. First a dirty boot goes missing. Then, Red's ball mysteriously disappears. Jack knew he had a thief in his midst. He didn't care as long as the thief never touched his belongings. But, when he suddenly finds his blanket and squeaker bone are missing, he is more determined than ever to catch that thief. I liked this book because it is a different mystery than all the other books I've ever read. I also liked that on each couple of pages it showed Jack's facts. I recommend this 76 page book to kids ages 7 and up. I would rate this book 3 and a half stars out of 5.

"Dying to Meet You" by Kate Klise

What he doesn’t know is that an 11-year-old boy named Seymour already lives there with his cat and a ghost named Olive. When they try to scare him out of the house and push it too hard by putting him in the hospital, will they take pity or will they put on more scares? "World's Worst Fairy Godmother" by Bruce Coville

Maybelle Clodnowski is the worst fairy godmother ever! She is so bad that her boss is only going to give her one more chance to prove she is worthy to be a fairy godmother. If she messes this up too, she’ll have to give up her wings and wand and become mortal. Now Edna Prim is another story. She has been awarded a fairy of the year award for 147 years. When Edna is assigned to look after Maybelle, what she doesn’t know is that Maybelle has a secret enemy. In this twisted story you’ll find good and evil, love and hate. Then she starts walking around in the neighborhood and everybody is mistakenly calling her Elizabeth. She cannot ever get a hold of her parents and no one will tell her who Elizabeth is. Then one day a mysterious box comes with a number of strange items. And then, if that isn't weird enough, a strange man shows up asking loads of questions.  You’ll be glued to the book till the end. I liked how mysterious the author made the story. It felt like you could guess what would happen next and you could either be right or totally wrong. This book is for kids ages 8 and older.
